I watched the movie The Wizard of Oz the other day. It always seems to be playing around this time of the year and I always seem to watch it. I can’t help myself. For some reason it fascinates me. It’s not like I really like this movie. It is kooky sweetness with a large dose of weird. But I do think it would be fun to hang out in Oz for a day or two. Except without the Lion. I find the Lion annoying. I’m not alone here, am I right? And whenever he sings, especially when they’re waiting outside the door to see the Wizard, I hit the mute button or change the channel every time.
I’ve seen this movie so many times now that it has turned into a story about how it’s more fun to be in technicolor than it is to be in black and white. Black and white people are boring. Including Dorothy while she’s gray. They all look drab, they speak drab, their issues are drab, and even their tornados are drab. But when everything is technicolor, sh*t is fun! That’s where the party is! Layers and layers of crazy party! Alas, in the end, Dorothy realizes she prefers the boring so she returns to the land of drab. The End. You can take the girl out of the drab, but you can’t take the drab out of the girl. So sad. That’s how I see it. Was I under the influence of one or possibly multiple substances when I came up with this? Yes.
