So… My husband, Rick, didn’t laugh at me when I told him I bought some pumpkins but he did give me “that smile” – the same one I got when I told him I’m painting the front door hot pink. It’s a cross between “what the-?” and “I’m not sure how to feel about this but I’m going along because I know it’ll make you happy.” Isn’t he a sweetie-pie? I really appreciate that smile. Really, really. Anyway, wine was definitely needed for this project so we happily had a couple of glasses before we tackled Project: Halloween Cheer. Here’s how it all went down…

Once we decided to carve up these bad boys, I felt the need to go out and buy the proper provisions. We had the kitchen gloves and trash bags at home but we needed the carving kits. Target has always been my go-to store and sure enough, I easily found the carving sets amongst the other random Halloween stuff thrown aside to make way for Christmas decor. But I also acquired a few other things I didn’t need – like more artificial plants (can’t ever have too many), a decorative pillow and a bell jar that I have no idea what it’s for but I wanted it at that moment. (That happens a lot.) So after lunch, we started the pumpkin carving. The scene was set with wine a-flowing (hey, it’s Friday). And with Charlie Brown playing on the TV, we were ready to get this done. Oh. That. Smell. Yuck. But I have to admit those little saws were a blessing and made things a thousand times easier. I opted to go for the traditional freehand drawn jack-o-latern. Rick went the more creative route. Being a super huge Walking Dead fan, he himmed and hawwed until he came up with something that suited his interests. And it turned out great, with the whole process going on without a hitch. Picking out the pumpkin seeds was kind of gross but tolerable. Fishing around that yuck was like picking out the egg shells from the scrambled eggs. And on top of that, I couldn’t stop. I was compelled to pick out as many seeds as possible. But maybe that was because the whole project so far cost me $92 and those fricken seeds were going to be all I’d have to show for it. Regardless, to be honest, the whole experience turned out to be a great activity for the both of us and Rick admitted it was really fun and he was glad we did it. It was a great “date night/day” activity for us and I think we’ll definitely do it again next year. Yay!
So, here are my $92 pumpkin seeds (and the two awesomely carved pumpkins that came with them).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN y’all!
Have fun and be safe!
